Art Doll 'GIGGLE'

GIGGLE  is one of my new art dolls recently completed using hand painted fabrics,inks,paints and stitch.
Face is hand painted with permanent pigments and her body and wigs are lusciously padded.
Hangs approx 38cm (15") - metal hanging hoop is already attached to the back for easy display!

I love these, they are such a delight to create-I'm already brimming with further ideas for future characters!
'Giggle' and some of her friends are available for sale and will be at exhibition during Henri Lloyd Falmouth Week, for exposedART on Events Square, Falmouth on Wednesday 11th August. More details to follow soon!

TAWNY Mixed Media Fairy ACEO

'TAWNY' is a mixed media work. It is the regulation ACEO size 2.5" x 3.5" and is presented on ultra-smooth bristol board white card. This design is an original pen and ink drawing with artist fine-line pen and professional artists' pencils and markers and plenty of TLC!

This piece has also been sprayed with a light fixative for protection and longevity.

What are ACEOs???? ACEO is the acronym for "Art Cards Editions and Originals". An ACEO is a small piece of art that can be defined by it's convenient 2.5 x 3.5 inch size. (Standard trading card size)
ACEOs are VERY different from trading cards however, because they are CREATED and traded or sold by artists. All my ACEOs are absolute ORIGINAL pieces of art! (Some artists choose to sell prints of their work -'editions' )

ACEOs are created in any medium available in the art world. Artists are creating them in ALL kinds of styles and varieties. There are no rules limiting the artist, outside of the size dimensions. ACEOs can be framed, propped, used as bookmarks,grouped together in larger frames......use YOUR imagination! Trading Card notebooks, sleeves and holders can all be used to display them.

The Lady Amber

I just had to share this work with you-she is a commissioned work,so not available, but was just completed this week and I almost wish now I could keep her with me a little longer!
This is The Lady Amber. A fiber art doll,one of a kind around 13" tall in her (permanent) seated position. Textile work is a long and often fiddly process and I have had to put her aside at times to create other things,so the journey has been a couple of months from start to end, but I am pleased with the result!

SILENCE- Mixed Media Canvas Painting

I am delighted to be offering for sale to you this unusual mixed media painting entitled 'SILENCE'.
Created using layers of script and collaged papers,along with inks and dyes. A whimsical and strong little piece,this would make a lovely addition to any art collection.
Canvas measures 6" x 8".

A really attractive work-I'm pleased to say it has brought a "WOW!" from everyone to have viewed it so far-I don't think the photos could ever do this real justice!
The painting is lightly matt glazed to seal and protect.

I Don't Understand-Mixed Media Painting

Created in a whimsical style,this piece is entitled 'I Don't Understand' and includes collaged script,inks,paints and beautiful hand pressed hydrangea petals. Sides are fully painted as a part of the work so there is no need for a frame-hang it as soon as it arrives!
The work is glazed with a soft matt varnish to enhance,seal and protect.

Painting in Progress....continued!

The current painting now has a strong base and I think I'm ready to start building in more details and adding light and warmer shades of golden limes to soften the deep purples.I'm really enjoying the process of 'in progress' photos-it's working well for me as I find I am evaluating my work more and spending a few extra moments reflecting on each stage. It was particularly useful today as I was able to spot areas where I had lost my way a little and put them right instead of realising much later on if I hadn't been studying my photos. I often hold unfinished work up to a mirror searching for an objective view,so have been 'flipping' the photos too,which has been very useful! More to follow tomorrow!

Painting in Progress....continued!

Progress continues on my latest piece.....slow but sure! I am working with a very limited palette of lavenders and golden limey greens.I love these shades together as the cool purples are warmed and softened with washes of lime. My aim is to work the whole piece in variations of these shades.More to follow soon!

New Painting In Progress....

Following my recent public resolution to keep better 'in progress' records,I have been dutifully photographing various stages of the current painting I am working on....beginning with the rough sketch stages.

These are not the best quality pics as I only had my phone for photographing with at the studio, but I will of course add fully detailed shots of the finished piece-I like how it is going so far!

D Is For Delicate ACEO

This is an ACEO from my latest series 'Alphabetica',entitled 'D is for ... Delicate'. I have worked through to the letter 'D' so far and the project has produced around eighty cards.
Each design is signed,dated and numbered on the reverse,and is collectible as a part of the series,or as an original in it's own right - I hope to finish the series during 2009!

Back At Last!

Autumn Series 2008

This painting is mixed media and is #1 in my Autumn 2008 series.
It is created on 12"x 12" x 1.5" block gallery wrapped canvas (staple free sides) using acrylics,graphite and oil pastel.
Lightly glazed with a semi gloss professional artists varnish to protect and seal,the sides are fully painted so this piece is ready to hang without the need for a frame ( or of course can still be framed should you choose to do so!)
