Purple Butterfly Choker

I don't make a lot of jewelry and when I do I usually give it as gifts to family/friends. I made this Purple Butterfly Choker while taking a break from cyberspace when my computer was down.

The 3 butterflies are hand-sculpted from Polymer Clay from my own design, then baked, painted with acrylics and glazed. They were then hand-woven into black hemp with 2 white beads and 2 purple/white beads to match.

Measures 14-1/2 inches, but I can make other sizes. Choker should fit snugly yet comfortably and shouldn't too loose of a fit. If you'd like to order a Purple Butterfly Choker, send me the measurement after you purchase on my website and I'll make it especially for YOU!

(PLEASE NOTE: butterflies can be painted other colors if you prefer)

Heron Prints

Center for Fine Art Photography Exhibit

The Center for Fine Art Photography has several exhibitions per year. The current exhibit is "The Art of Digital Imagery," which is a real-time gallery show at the center in Fort Collins, Colorado, and posted online as well.

I took this shot in the fall, on a sunny morning when I found clusters of colorful leaves floating on the dark lake surface. The contrast between the dark water and the color and form of the leaves, and the gold-green color and delicate form of the pine needles, made a lovely tapestry, I thought.

I've posted "Water Tapestry" before, but now you can see it in the show. I hope you enjoy the Center for Fine Art Photography exhibit. I know I did!

Parallel Lives

An elderly woman walks her bicycle down a narrow Alassio street, while a younger woman veers off the street into an adjacent doorway. They are in such close proximity in space and time, but each is oblivious of the other.

"Parallel Lives" can be looked at in several ways, I guess. It's a good metaphor for alienation and depersonalization and such. It could also be a metaphor for pattern and routine and limited consciousness/entrenched thinking, with the way the structures of those doors wall the woman in. And it could be a comment on aging, of course. Or culture. What does it make you think of? Image c Lynda Lehmann.

Sundrenched

I really need to be painting for a large solo show I have coming up next winter. But of course, I keep getting sidetracked by all the beautiful spring flowers that are just bursting forth everywhere. To make matters worse, I've just purchased a new camera, a 10.2 mega pixel Sony Alpha digital SLR. Not only do I need to test it out and begin to learn how to use it, but having it in my hands makes me want to photograph everything in sight.

An old obsession is photographing rocks and minerals, my own little collection of colorful crystals. They're not perfect specimens, but they're gems to me; their beauty is fascinating. Of course I'm having trouble with getting sufficient depth of field when shooting these, close up. I'm hoping to find just the right settings for my crystal shots, but don't hold your breath!
