Baby Llama aceo

I painted this baby llama today. This is a sold aceo oil painting. Reference photo taken by Pat Otten.
I've been doing quite a few aceo's lately, and I am starting to want to go a little bigger, or alot bigger...well, bigger anyways.

This weekend we are going up to Duluth to see the big sailing ships come in. I am hoping to get some good reference photos for future paintings. Wish me luck.

Critters in the Garden

Look closely, can you see the critters hiding in the garden?
This one is 19.5" x 24" and is another string and snippet under tulle piece

Mixed Emotions

Painting with fabric, black cotton for my canvas, recreated brush strokes with different sizes and colors of fabric squares, triangles and strips, broad brush here, tiny one there, snippets become paint spatters when sprinkled like confetti, cover it all with black tulle and quilt like crazy! 12" x 15.5"
This was #4 on my creative whirlwind today. The rest , made using a different technique, can be seen here

Retro

Yet another challenge piece, can you tell I can't pass up a challenge? This theme was *Circles and Squares*. I designed several pieces for it, but decided to go with this one, designed it and made it in one work intensive day. I really like the colors and was so glad I had them all in my stash! It hangs from a corner so it resembles a diamond and not a square, but measured it is 17" square.

For once, I also love the back of a piece. If I get tired of looking at the front I can turn it around and view the back for awhile :-)

New Studio Workshop!!

Here they are at last!See the reason I have been so quiet here of late! The first photos of my new studio workshop( I waited SO long to get a unit here and at last the universe has answered, have been grinning mindlessly all week,am sure the other artists in residence here thnk I'm bats!) -it's been a long week getting the place ready, but it has been worth it,I'm now at the really fun stage of adding colour-it all still looks a little sparse, but will soon be jampacked with art goodies and creations for sale! The first pic is of the beach-Trevaunance Cove literally 100 yards away and very beautiful, typically Cornish, rocky, sandy and wild! The colours on Saturday when I took these were particularly intense, but it is a truly gorgeous beach all year round!

Renewed Focus On My Pyrographic Furniture

I have taken new pictures of some of my woodburned furniture to renew my focus on this medium I started working in, in 1978. Pieces are custom ordered, because I simply don't have enough storage space. I simply love pyrography and creating furniture pieces with it has been a passion of mine for many years. Almost every room in my home is adorned with my woodburned furniture.

No patterns are used in my art work. I burn the scenes freehand from my own imagination. No two pieces of furniture are exactly alike because none of the woodburned images are the same.

Single Marble

Last weekend I bought myself a couple bags of marbles and spent over an hour photographing those little glass spheres in the morning sun. I not only had an urge to paint glass, but to also use my own photograph to paint from.

This little painting is one of many studies for a larger oil painting of a marble. When I'm done all the other oil paintings currently in various stages of completeness... I'll be starting a marble.

Alaskan Memory

Finally finished! I call this one Alaskan Memory, mainly because it IS an Alaskan memory of AlaskaRap! He very kindly allowed me to use one of his photos to create this wall hanging (if you haven't seen his photography you don't know what you're missing!!) Thanks again btw!
Funny thing about this one, I wanted to make it because I loved the picture, but it quickly became a commissioned piece when he saw the end result. His wife wanted it because it brought back wonderful memories of the time they spent at this lake. Soon it will be on its way to their home, where I hope it continues to bring them both warm fuzzies!

Art Doll ACEO

I love this little piece! Entitled 'Autumn' this work includes one of my own hand made clay face cabs, genuine vintage bisque doll's arms, gorgeous fibres and dried, pressed leaf.Currently for auction in my ebay store-CLICK HERE to visit!

What are ACEOs???? ACEO is the acronym for "Art Cards Editions and Originals". An ACEO is a small piece of art that can be defined by it's convenient 2.5 x 3.5 inch size. (Standard trading card size)
ACEOs are VERY different from trading cards however, because they are CREATED and traded or sold by artists. All my ACEOs are absolute ORIGINAL pieces of art! (Some artists choose to sell prints of their work -'editions' )

ACEOs are created in any medium available in the art world. Artists are creating them in ALL kinds of styles and varieties. There are no rules limiting the artist, outside of the size dimensions. ACEOs can be framed, propped, used as bookmarks, grouped together in larger frames......use YOUR imagination! Trading Card notebooks, sleeves and holders can all be used to display them.

July WWAO Exhibit - Our Favorite Works

July 08 Worldwide Women Artist Show !
Graciously hosted by Noelle Hunt!

Just click on the artists to view their sites and their fabulous work!

Big sloppy kisses to Noelle Hunt for hosting this exhibit!

Internationally-known Canadian artist Noelle Hunt works in a studio full of her muses collectible pieces of vintage kitsch. Her work, under the name WickedDollz, has been featured in magazines and celebrity homes around the world.

Noelle's early work, revolving around disturbing representations of the female form, echoed a tragic eating disorder that nearly took her life. Her recent work, however, is inspired by lighter, nostalgic things, like Big Eyed Dolls and Mattel's Liddle Kiddles, as well as newer dolls like Pullips, and Takara Blythe. Now, with tongue set firmly in cheek, she continues to express her own brand of humor and exorcise the demons.
