Painting in Progress....continued!
Progress continues on my latest piece.....slow but sure! I am working with a very limited palette of lavenders and golden limey greens.I love these shades together as the cool purples are warmed and softened with washes of lime. My aim is to work the whole piece in variations of these shades.More to follow soon!

New Painting In Progress....
Following my recent public resolution to keep better 'in progress' records,I have been dutifully photographing various stages of the current painting I am working on....beginning with the rough sketch stages.
More to follow soon....
These are not the best quality pics as I only had my phone for photographing with at the studio, but I will of course add fully detailed shots of the finished piece-I like how it is going so far!

Carousel horse, screen saver photo experiment!
Last night, as I watched my screen saver rolling by, I wondered if my camera's eye would see the same things my eyes were seeing! So I ran to get the camera, changed the lens, and began to snap away. I was so excited about the images I captured. This is one of them, there are more on my personal studio blog. If you stop by, and leave a comment there, I'll email you one free screen saver image for your own screen saver! My email address is, montanahorsegallery@earthlink.net, just email me and request your saver, after you leave a comment.
I'll be offering screen saver cd's for sale with these and other images from my photo collection.
Thanks for stopping by our WWAO blog!

A Horse is a Horse, Of Course, Of Course!
My husband and I "met" this lovely steed at a local historic event in rural Maine last summer. Scribner's Mill, to be exact, where local history and customs were being celebrated. Here, "Molly The Hungry Horse" takes time out for a late afternoon snack of hay. She was personable enough to give us a glance, even as we interrupted her meal. I'm taken by the shock of hair in her eyes, her long whiskers, and the morsels of hay protruding from her mouth. Cuteness aside, horses are beautiful and noble animals.

New Zazzle Squidoo Lens Published Yesterday!
Just a quick post to introduce my latest Squidoo lens showcasing one of my pro-selling Zazzle galleries "HighCal".
Squidoo seems to have made a lot of technical changes lately and it's a lot more user friendly. It still takes quite a few hours to complete a lens but I think this year it's going to be all about marketing and we have to use the tools that are available to us.
In my opinion Squidoo gives us a so much at no cost. It's definitely a great marketing tool and I think we all need to take advantage of it. Happy Squidooing!

Song Of Happiness ACEO
Mixed media original ACEO includes felt beads, vellum, inks and stamped and layered images.
Entitled 'Song of Happiness' this joyous little work is signed and dated on the reverse-one of a kind!
What are ACEOs???? ACEO is the acronym for "Art Cards Editions and Originals". An ACEO is a small piece of art that can be defined by it's convenient 2.5 x 3.5 inch size. (Standard trading card size)
ACEOs are VERY different from trading cards however, because they are CREATED and traded or sold by artists. All my ACEOs are absolute ORIGINAL pieces of art! (Some artists choose to sell prints of their work -'editions' )
ACEOs are created in any medium available in the art world. Artists are creating them in ALL kinds of styles and varieties. There are no rules limiting the artist, outside of the size dimensions. ACEOs can be framed, propped, used as bookmarks, grouped together in larger frames......use YOUR imagination! Trading Card notebooks, sleeves and holders can all be used to display them.

Rocky Stream
I'm an abstract painter at heart but every once in a while I get a "hankering" to do a piece that's more realistic. Here's a recent landscape "Rocy Stream". This painting is 24 X 24 inches, acrylic on gallery wrap canvas. The original is available for sale and it is also available in various print formats.

Fun For Valentines Day
This weekend I decided to have some fun and I created these two aceos. Love and Kiss Me.
Not my usual, but it is very freeing to step out of the norm. I want to crank up the music sometime and try my hand at abstract for a change. Hopefully I will have the guts to do that soon. Have a wonderful day!!!!

Painted this watercolor and india ink piece late last night. It's fun, it's whimsical, sweet and poetic. I enjoyed playing around with the loose style and adding the poetic prose. Would be a sweet painting for a unique Valentine gift. :)

What a cute squirrel!
When Robert was on the Crazy Horse fire crew near Seeley Lake, Mt we parked the 5th wheel at the Holland Lake Campground and lived there for a month or more. Robert worked at night, driving the water truck, so I'd leave the camper during the day and follow this squirrel around, taking photos of him. I named him Zip.
He got to the point where he'd come to the camper door in the mornings, and chatter for me to come out. He liked being the star of my camera show!

The Season Of Singing Has Come
This is my latest painting now available for sale at Red Bubble. Enjoy!
The Reflecting Pool
Isn't this a peaceful image? The water was still, the horse was still. It was warm summer time. I also like the complementary colors in the composition. This is one of my favorite photos. It makes me feel warm, calm, serene...

Bouquet From the Heart
Friday I went downstairs and brought my acrylics upstairs. Found that I am out of Titanium white in my usual brand.
This little design I had done last year in colored pencil while doodleing. I always liked it, but it wasn't quite right and I never took it anywhere. So, last night I used my acrylics, and here it is, turned into an aceo. It's strange to use acrylics again, but I like how it dries right away.

Diana Bracy in Library of Congress!!
Good Morning WWAO!
It is wonderful to a part of the Blogger. I have made my 6 months internship!!!
I would also like to share that I was recently interviewed by the Alliance of American Quilters, Q.S.O.S. or Quilters Save Our Stories, by Karen Musgrave. My story will be a part of history for my grand children's children to read in the Library of Congress! Karen's interest was piqued when she heard of our scheduled Obama quilting Event "A Celebration in Art Quilts".
Karen asked a few of us to tell our stories about our passion to make a quilt for Mr Obama. She also wanted to know what inspired us to start quilting and our opinions about the art of quilting.
The stories are rather lengthy, so you may want to bookmark it and read at your leisure, if your are interested. This is the link to my page: http://www.allianceforamericanquilts.org/qsos/interview.php?pbd=qsos-a0a8x6-a
As a member of Quilts for Obama which is organized by Susan Walen of Bethesda, Md, she made a call out for Obama quilts to be showcased as part the Inauguration of our President-Elect.
Most of you have seen my Fiber Mosaic of Mr Obama's image. This is the same piece that debuted in Houston's International Quilt Festival in 2008. It was shown under the catogory of "Patchwork Politics". My McCain's mosaic was also showcased in Houston.
Our Event details:
President Obama: A Celebration in Art Quilts Location: Cafritz Art Center, 150 King St., Silver Spring, MD Dates: February 9 - March 5, 2009 Opening Reception: Friday, February 13th
This is a portion of Susan's statement . "Now, we present a show from more than 60 of us: a grass-roots, multi-ethnic, all-volunteer group of women from all around the US and as far away as Australia. This is a quilt show of amazing diversity -- among the quilters and their art. Our extraordinary diversity mirrors the diversity and international support that Obama's election has generated.
My plan is to have 3 small quilts and one larger group quilt, from Fiber Artists for Obama, shown in the exhibit. Several quilters are traveling to Washington, D. C. for the reception, sponsored by Montgomery College. There are plans to publish a book, showcasing all of the quilts to help raise funds for scholarships for the art students.
Susan is also seeking a venue where they quilts will travel. Some of the Artists are even selling their quilts, after the show.
Thanks,
Diana Bracy

Ruby Red
Happy New Year! I spend most of today painting this guy, which is also one of my goals for the new year. This year I plan on painting at least one 4" x 6" picture each week along side all my other mini's (ACEO's) and (hopefully) larger oils. These weekly challenge paintings will be available through my Etsy store.

Talking Sushi again :)
I purchased a cool set of leaf-shaped sushi plates from Jolene at Pottery by Jolene
I added 4 sets of my woodburned chopsticks to the gift and gave it to my son Justin for Christmas. Everyone should have nice things for their own place, don't you think? Justin loves the set and will be buying sushi soon I'm sure. :)
I took these pics to showcase the pieces together. Jolene and I are going to use them in our marketing and help each other out. My new digital camera is coming in verrrry handy lately!
Click on the pics to see them larger; follow the links on the pics to purchase your own sushi set. :)

Cinderellas' Carriage
This is my first Fractal art that I have published on Zazzle. It reminds me of Cinderellas' Carriage, so that's what I named it. I have added 'Be Mine!' or "love" to some of the products. You can check them out at http://www.zazzle.com/bmthour under Fractals.
As with everything, I have learned that it takes time to learn new programs. I always just want to know how to do everything right away. But you have to take it one step at a time. Patience - yikes!

The Motivation Returns!
Wishing everyone a very happy, healthy and creative 2009!
I'm so thrilled to say that my artist's block is gone and my motivation has returned.
Sure, I've been creating work daily but I just haven't been overflowing with inspired ideas for months. I have to tell you ladies, that I thought I'd forgotten how to paint! Seriously, being a Christian, the thought crossed my mind so many times "the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away". Yikes!
We get so overwhelmed with the marketing that we have to do in order to sell our artwork that it tends to really suck the life right out of us sometimes. No wonder people have paid assistants. I WISH! Artists are supposed to create. We need the business skills too but above all, it's creating that satisfies our souls.
I think that the art supplies I received from Santa have a lot to do with getting back in the groove. We all know how good it feels to get new supplies. My husband is always so awesome in that respect at Christmas. He knows that's what makes me happy. He always makes a trip to my favourite art store at this time of year and stocks up LOL! Although I don't think he's listening, he hears every word I say. He even picked up a little drawing table for me because he's heard me mutter it to my son. I was really surprised and touched by that.
Anyway, here's a new abstract floral that I just completed. It's called "Inspire Me" and it's acrylic on canvas. I'm just happy to have the ideas flowing again. Thank God for His blessings and for wonderful husbands!
